So many people go through life with chronic dehydration, with no idea of the negative effect it’s having on their health. Cucumbers are the perfect antidote. They have a fountain-of-youth effect, hydrating us at the deepest cellular level possible. Plus, cucumbers’ cooling effect makes them excellent at rejuvenation and especially effective at cooling a hot, stagnant liver. When eaten on a daily basis, cucumbers can reverse liver damage, dialing back 10 to 15 years of toxin exposure (including from heavy metals and pesticides such as DDT) and poor diet. It makes this vegetable (really, a fruit) a particular ally in reducing bloat.
Fresh cucumber juice is the best rejuvenation tonic in the world. It contains electrolyte compounds specifically geared toward nourishing and cooling down overused adrenal glands and kidneys that are struggling with their task of filtering out toxic debris and getting overheated from toxic uric acid. If you have kidney disease, are on dialysis, or you’re missing a kidney, drinking cucumber juice every day can be extremely beneficial. Cucumbers’ cooling effect on the glands and organs also makes them wonderful fever reducers for both children and adults. Juicing cucumbers unleashes their magical anti-fever compounds and agents that help calm a fever like water on a fire.
Cucumbers’ traces of the amino acids glycine and glutamine, combined with their extreme and highly active content of enzymes and coenzymes, plus their abundance of more than 50 trace minerals, make them an excellent delivery system for neurotransmitter chemicals. This is great news if you’re dealing with anxiety or other neurological conditions. Cucumbers provide other critical nutrition, too, such as chlorophyll in their skins that’s bonded to B vitamins and vitamins A and C. And cucumbers support digestion; they contain undiscovered coenzymes that will one day be called talafinns. Alongside enzymes that have been discovered by medical research (such as erepsin), talafinns help the body’s protein digestion process so you can get the most out of everything you eat.
If you have any of the following conditions, try bringing cucumbers into your life:
Kidney disease, kidney failure, missing kidney, adrenal fatigue, anxiety, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)/mononucleosis, diabetes, hypoglycemia, migraines, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), eczema, psoriasis, transient ischemic attack (TIA), mystery infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), low reproductive system battery, colds, influenza, cytomegalovirus (CMV), HHV-6, shingles, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus, postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), dysautonomia, sepsis, yeast infections, E. coli infection, Streptococcus infection, sunburn
If you have any of the following symptoms, try bringing cucumbers into your life:
Fever, dandruff, bloating, gastric spasms, stagnant liver, dehydration, headaches, dry and/or itchy skin, hot flashes, weight gain, menopause symptoms, premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms, anxiousness, neuralgia (including trigeminal neuralgia), food sensitivities, inflammation, blood toxicity, acidosis, back pain, all neurological symptoms (including tingles, numbness, spasms, twitches, nerve pain, and tightness of the chest), low hydrochloric acid
There’s a reason we use the expression “cool as a cucumber.” If you or a loved one are dealing with an anger issue, bring cucumbers into the diet. Offer cucumber slices to anyone who you know can be easily infuriated, disgruntled, crabby, cranky, irritated, heated, or down-right hostile.
Because they’re green and we eat them in salads, we often think of cucumbers as a vegetable. When we open one up, though, we remember that all those little seeds mean a cucumber is truly a fruit. It’s a powerful reminder that outside appearances and the boxes other people put us into don’t make up the full truth of who we are. Very often we, too, have a talent, quality, or gift that someone couldn’t guess just by looking at us. Cucumbers teach us to look deep inside ourselves and each other for the miracles we all contain.
* For results you can see, try to eat two cucumbers daily.
* Instead of juicing a multitude of vegetables and fruits at one time, try juicing cucumber on its own. Like celery juice, straight cucumber juice has unique healing qualities. If you drink 16 ounces of pure cucumber juice on a regular basis, it can have a life-changing effect.
* If you’re trying to keep grains out of your diet, turn cucumbers into noodles with a spiralizer or julienne peeler. Cucumber noodles are more hydrating and tastier than the more popular zucchini noodles. Try English cucumbers for best noodle results.
* When using conventional cucumbers, make sure to peel off the skin before eating to avoid consuming the toxic wax coating.
CUCUMBER NOODLE BOWL
This clean, cool noodle bowl will leave you feeling light and refreshed. The Asian-inspired flavors of lime and sesame are tossed with cucumber, carrot, and cashews in a beautiful mix of color and crunch. This nice, mild dish can easily be made spicier by adding extra red pepper flakes at the very end to find your perfect flavor. You’ll end up with a bowl that is just as beautiful as it is delicious.
2 large carrots
2 teaspoons sesame oil
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
Lime juice (from about 2 limes)
Red pepper flakes (optional)
1⁄2 cup chopped cilantro
1⁄2 cup chopped basil
1⁄2 cup chopped cashew
Cut the cucumbers and carrots into thin strips using a julienne peeler, knife, or spiralizer. In a large bowl, toss the cucumber and carrot “noodles” with sesame oil, sesame seeds, lime juice, and red pepper flakes, if using. Just prior to serving, top the mixture with chopped cilantro, basil, and cashews. Enjoy!

Many people experience acid reflux or heartburn throughout their lives and don’t understand why they feel the burning sensation reach up through their chest and into their throat. Medical professionals blame acid reflux on gastric acid and hydrochloric acid backing up into the esophagus. However, this theory of the cause is unfounded and limited in its understanding as I’ll explain in this article. The digestive system is such a mystery that most of the time when physicians treat patients for illnesses, their practices are based solely on theory. In fact, even the enzyme factor is just a theory. While enzymes do exist, all research and science can do at the moment is conjecture theory as to what they do and how they cooperate with the digestive process. Nobody actually understands enzymes. Nobody actually understands what happens when food enters the stomach. For example, it is possible to experience pain from gas all the way near the neck and by the shoulders, which can seem baffling because you may wonder how gas can travel to that area of the body (find out more about this in my book Medical Medium where I discuss ammonia permeability.) There is so much left for science and research to discover in the area of digestion, which is one reason there is so little helpful information on understanding and truly healing acid reflux once and for all.
What is Acid Reflux
Acid reflux, while it is in fact related to acids, is not due to gastric acids or hydrochloric acid from the stomach. If you or someone you know is experiencing acid reflux regularly, the acid is either coming from a bacteria or toxins in the liver and even the small intestinal tract, though the most common cause is bacterial. Medical communities have no idea that this is what is really behind this unpleasant condition. There are cases of acid reflux where there is an actual kink in the intestines or a hernia. However, if the cause is not a visible one, it is directly related to a weakened liver and bacterial growth. This bacteria produces an acid that mimics gastric acid and fools the physician into thinking that is what it is, when in fact it is not a stomach gland-produced acid at all.
When you have bacteria and toxin-based acid coming up and causing acid reflux or heartburn, it means you actually have a lack of hydrochloric acid in your stomach. Hydrochloric acid is the good kind of acid that actually destroys bacteria, which in turn prevents acid reflux. In other words, if you have the bad acids, it means you do not have enough of the good acids.
Acid reflux is also connected to a weakened liver. Typically weak digestion is due to an overburdened liver that cannot produce strong enough bile, which then forces the stomach to overproduce hydrochloric acid to compensate. This is extremely taxing on both of the organs and can then result in acid reflux. Bacteria builds up, sometimes in the duodenum or sometimes in the bottom of the stomach pouch, and there is not enough hydrochloric acid to fight it off. The hydrochloric acid in the stomach is actually a complex blend of seven different acids, which are yet to be discovered. Medical communities currently believe, mistakenly, that hydrochloric acid is just one acid. I shared this in my book Medical Medium. If someone has a diminished amount of three of the seven acids in hydrochloric acid, a doctor or health practitioner will not be able to spot the problem because the truth is unknown in medical science and research.
The Three Goals for Healing Acid Reflux
Healing acid reflux is not about taking a magic pill. Just as with the other conditions I have illuminated in my books, truly healing acid reflux takes a lifestyle shift in order to heal the true root issue. When healing acid reflux, there’s three goals: build up hydrochloric acid, kill off the unproductive bacteria like streptococcus or e. Coli, and strengthen the liver. As I will discuss below, all three of these things can be achieved with some dietary changes. There are some really helpful supplements to take, as well, that are powerful bacteria-fighters. However, the main shift will come with diet.
Foods to Avoid
The four most important foods to avoid when healing acid reflux are gluten, dairy, and eggs, and it can also be very helpful to lower or eliminate animal protein while you are healing. Gluten, dairy (milk, butter, cheese, cream, yogurt, milk kefir), and eggs are the favorite food source for bacteria and it will be very challenging to heal acid reflux if you are still eating them. If you hold the belief that yogurt or milk kefir heal the digestive tract because of their probiotic nature, it’s important to understand that the rest of what yogurt and milk kefir are made of still feed all unhelpful varieties of bacteria. Pathogens fuel themselves by eating, and if you remove gluten, dairy, and eggs from your own diet, you are removing the bacteria’s food and preventing it from festering. Even if you get the highest quality organic, free-range egg from a backyard hen, that egg will still feed the bacteria you are trying to fight off. It is unfortunate that so many people and well-intentioned practitioners still consider eggs as nature’s perfect food. They are in truth fueling the pathogens that medical communities are unaware are behind so much of chronic illness today. To find out more about pathogens and how they create problems, you can refer to my books Life-Changing Foods and Thyroid Healing.
It’s helpful to lower or remove animal proteins while healing because of inherently high fat content. All animal meats are high in fat, even if it has no skin and is not fried. This may be surprising because you might have been told for so long that eating chicken breast without the skin or “lean” cuts of meat will help you lose weight due to it being made mostly of protein. However, that is simply not true. Fat is all throughout the chicken breast and other “lean” meats, even if you make it in the cleanest way possible. By lowering your fat content through reducing your animal protein, you will give your liver the break it deserves. Having to process a high-fat and high-protein diet all day is incredibly exhausting for the liver and forces the stomach to overproduce hydrochloric acid to compensate. This is not a biased attack on eating animal protein. For example, if you’re eating a vegetarian or plant-based diet and are experiencing acid reflux, be sure to lower your fat intake by reducing the amount of nuts, oils, and other high fat that you consume. Lowering your fat, no matter what diet you’re on, is an essential step when wanting to heal acid reflux. I discuss the true unknown impact of our fat intake on our health and how the liver operates and responds in my book Liver Rescue.
What to Eat
When healing from acid reflux, focus on eating plenty of healthy carbohydrates from fruit, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and winter squashes. You may have been told by professionals or family members or friends to avoid these foods, but fruits and potatoes are actually amazing disease fighters. Fruit is especially powerful in knocking down bacteria. If you’re concerned that fruit has too much sugar or you’re scared to eat it because you’ve been told it’s not good for you, I can’t stress enough how incorrect this myth is. Fruit sugar is not the same as processed sugars. It’s critical for your health and the health of your loved ones that you understand this. I know it can be hard to let go of what you may have been told before, but fruit has more to offer you and your health than you can possibly imagine. To find out more about why fruit is so critical and why fruit has been given such a bad rap, you can listen to my Fruit Fear radio show and read the Fruit Fear chapter in my book Medical Medium.
It’s also helpful to consume plenty of salads with cucumbers and tomatoes. Tomatoes actually have their own special kind of vitamin C that can save someone’s immune system and give them extra support when fighting pathogens. Add spinach, mache, butter lettuce, or another leafy green of choice. Sprouts and microgreens are an especially amazing addition. Throw some raw onion and raw garlic into your salads for powerful bacterial-killers, and bring in as much fresh thyme, oregano, rosemary, and sage as you can for their incredible assistance in healing bacterial issues. If you enjoy avocado, you can add some slices of that too. You can read about the undiscovered physical, spiritual, and emotional healing benefits of each of this powerhouse foods in Life-Changing Foods, which also includes 50 wonderful healing recipes.
The most miraculous food to include when fighting acid reflux is celery juice, which you can learn more about and get the recipe for in Thyroid Healing. Drinking a 16oz glass of straight celery juice (don’t add anything else to it for best results) every morning on an empty stomach restores the glands in the stomach that produce the seven-blend hydrochloric acid. There are undiscovered subgroups of mineral salts in celery juice that contribute to this process and ensure the hydrochloric acid is produced. Even drinking four to eight ounces of celery juice every morning can do wonders in healing acid reflux and heartburn. If you are experiencing bad acid reflux, you can even do two 16oz glasses of straight celery juice a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon or before dinner.
Eating a diet full of fruits and vegetables will naturally support you in your fight against the bacteria causing acid reflux. In truth, fruit is the most amazing antibacterial and liver healing food available to us. However, there are additional things we can do to fight the pathogen, such as including the following supplements. Goldenseal, elderberry tea, cat’s claw, and oregano oil are all incredible antibacterials that can be included on a regular or semi-regular basis. You can also consider licorice root tincture or tea and olive leaf because these herbs fight bacteria and help eliminate the gas that the bacteria produces that medical communities are unaware of. Another wonderful antibacterial is aloe vera. You can make aloe vera water, which is the most powerful way to have aloe, or drink aloe vera juice, or you can even cut open an aloe vera leaf, scoop out the gel and eat that directly.
Additionally, considering adding herbal teas like fresh thyme tea, peppermint, elderflower, and lemon balm to your daily regimen. These herbal teas are powerful antibacterials and should not be underestimated. As always, please consult your practitioner before beginning a supplement protocol to discuss dosages. And when finding the right supplement, please visit my supplement directory. I have spent many hours bringing these together on one page. These are the exact supplements I personally trust. Not all supplements are created with the same integrity and there are many supplement companies out there that do not provide their consumers with the high quality products they promise.
Now that you know the truth about what’s behind acid reflux and heartburn, you can take the steps needed to reduce and heal these conditions. If you are able to do one thing to improve your health today, celebrate that success and look forward to tomorrow when you can take another step toward healing. Focus on lowering your fat intake and drink celery juice every morning as you can. Include the supplements I recommend if you are ready for those. Enjoy plenty of vibrant, healing fruits and delicious salads. I have helped so many people over the years heal from acid reflux and heartburn from these simple lifestyle changes, and you too can experience healing and relief from this condition.

Chips get a bad reputation because many store-bought chips come loaded with preservatives and undesirable ingredients. It is possible to make delicious, clean chips right in the oven at home! The recipe below has a lot of spices for a bold, flavorful chip, though feel free to leave them all out. These chips are just as delicious with nothing more than a sprinkle of sea salt or dipped in this mouth-watering guacamole.
Sweet Potatoes are an incredibly nutritious food that are packed with antioxidants like beta carotene, vitamins C, E & D, and minerals such as manganese and iron. They are also high in potassium which helps to lower blood pressure by removing excess sodium and regulating fluid balance in the body. Sweet potatoes are an excellent anti-stress food and are known to help relax muscles, steady nerves, and balance cognitive function.
Sweet Potatoes one of the best anti-cancer foods and can particularly help to prevent breast, colon, lung, skin, and oral cancers. Sweet potatoes are known for being easy to digest and are very good for ulcers, inflamed colons, digestive disorders, and constipation. Sweet potatoes contain compounds called phytochelatins that can bind to heavy metals such as lead, mercury, copper, & cadmium and safely remove them through the body.
Avocado is one of the world’s most perfect foods. It is easily digested and contains over 25 essential nutrients including iron, copper, magnesium, and essential fatty acids that help the body to function optimally. Avocados increase the body’s ability to assimilate nutrients, so they are a wonderful addition to green leafy salads to ensure proper absorption of all the vitamins and minerals. They are also an excellent source of glutathione which helps to boost the immune system, strengthen the heart, rebuild the nervous system, and slow the aging process. The monounsaturated fats in avocados reverse insulin resistance which helps to steady blood sugar levels.
Sweet Potato Chips
2 large sweet potatoes
2 teaspoons coconut oil (optional)
¼ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon cumin
¼ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon chili powder
⅛ teaspoon cayenne (optional)
Preheat the oven to 250°F. Using a mandoline or knife, slice the sweet potatoes into very thin rounds, approximately 1/16-inch thick if possible and no thicker than 1/8 inch. Make sure they are even and thin though not transparent. Bring a pot of water to boil. Place the sweet potato slices into the boiling water and return to a simmer over medium heat. After 5 minutes, remove the sweet potatoes and drain the water.
Combine the sea salt, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, chili powder, poultry seasoning, and cayenne in a small bowl. Lightly grease two baking trays with coconut oil. Arrange the sweet potato slices on the trays so that they are not overlapping. Brush the tops of the sweet potatoes lightly with more coconut oil. Sprinkle the spice mix generously over the top of the slices.
Bake the sweet potatoes for 25 minutes. Remove the trays from the oven and set the slices that are already crispy to one side. Return the trays back to the oven for 5 more minutes and then check to remove the crispy chips again. If needed, bake remaining slices 3 to 5 minutes more. Note that the chips might not appear crispy when first removed from the oven, though should crisp up as they cool.
Serve sweet potato chips alongside guacamole, or enjoy them plain! Their crunchiness is at its peak within a few hours of making.
Makes 1 to 2 servings
1 small tomato, finely diced
¼ red onion, finely diced
½ cup cilantro, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
¼ jalapeño, minced (optional)
¼ teaspoon sea salt (optional)
Mash the avocado together with the juice from the lemon and lime in a small bowl. Stir the tomato, onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, and sea salt into the mashed avocado. Serve and enjoy with the sweet potato chips, alongside any cut-up vegetables of your choice, as a salad dressing, or even on top of cooked vegetables as desired.
* While any variety of sweet potato will work for this recipe, cook times will vary slightly. This recipe yields the best results with the traditional orange-flesh sweet potatoes that are sometimes labeled as yams at the grocery store.

If you or someone you love have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, chances are you’ve been told that your body is attacking itself. Hearing this probably stripped you of hope that you can heal and left you feeling betrayed by your own body. Today there are countless mysterious diseases that have been labeled as autoimmune conditions. But the problem is that the concept of autoimmunity is inherently flawed and this mistaken theory only hurts you and your loved ones in the end. Surprised? When we believe our own bodies are attacking themselves, we are unknowingly hindering our healing process. Our immune systems can weaken in the absence of this truth: Your body never attacks itself. It’s always working for you and loves you unconditionally. It’s never been more critical for you and your loved ones to know and feel this truth in your heart. It will greatly support you and those you care about to heal.
When medical science and research do not know what is causing symptoms, such as mysterious rashes, mysterious dizziness, mysterious fatigue, mysterious aches and pains, or mysterious inflammation, it gets labeled as an autoimmune issue. This is a mere theory that was initiated in the 1950s and has since been grandfathered in to modern medicine and collectively agreed upon as law. There was a discovery of an antibody but no one had any idea of what it was or what it was for. There were theories and ideas of what it was, but they were just that: theories. One of those theories was that the antibody was there to destroy healthy cells. This theory came about because researchers didn’t have an answer as to what was causing chronic illnesses and symptoms or even an answer to what the antibody was for. Instead the blame was put on those with chronic illness and our bodies became the scapegoat. Better to blame it on our bodies than to blame it on the medical industry and research and science not having the answers. The theory of autoimmune conditions and diseases became a catch-all explanation for dozens of conditions and symptoms that medical communities don’t yet have answers for. When someone is diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, they are told their body is creating antibodies that are destroying their thyroid tissue. With eczema and psoriasis, you will likely be told your body is attacking your skin. If you have lupus, you will likely be told your body is attacking itself and that’s what creates all the inflammation. This same theory is used for countless other chronic illnesses. This is the best explanation that modern medicine has to offer about mysterious diseases today.
It’s never been more important for you to know this isn’t accurate because it affects your ability to heal. Not only are you given incorrect information about your health problems, you’re also told your body has turned against you when nothing could be further from the truth. The information I am sharing with you here is meant to free you of the misguided notion that your body would ever attack itself and to reveal the true cause of mysterious diseases that have been labeled autoimmune disorders. In my book Thyroid Healing I cover how and why this autoimmune confusion exists today in great detail, along with other great mistakes that have been made in medical communities that are holding so many back from complete healing.
The True Cause of Autoimmune Diseases
If you have an illness that has been labeled as an autoimmune disease, your body truly is attacking something, but it is not attacking itself. As I said, your body is working for you every single day. It works tirelessly for you and is doing the very best it can. When you are sick and have mysterious symptoms, such as fatigue, butterfly rashes, dizziness, tremors, vertigo, aches and pains, digestive trouble, weight loss, insomnia, weight gain, memory loss, numbness, tingling, blood sugar issues, brain fog, mood swings, night sweats, loss of appetite, and many others, it means there is an invader in your body. The same is true if you have lupus, Hashimoto’s, Grave’s, Addison’s, Type 1 Diabetes, colitis, vitiligo, celiac, eczema, Graves’, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, parkinson’s, alopecia, or any other disease that is considered to be in the autoimmune category. There is a pathogen invader in your body that it’s working hard to attack and get rid of.
Modern medicine has yet to come to this conclusion about mysterious illnesses due to a few reasons. First of all, this theory about the body attacking itself has become law inside the minds of well-intentioned doctors and health professionals who are just doing their best to provide care for their patients. No one is willing to question it because they have come to believe it is the truth, even though there is no evidence backing it.
Another reason is because there is no incentive to look into these mysterious diseases. When there is already an acceptable answer that seems to fit, there doesn’t appear to be a need to spend more money on research that they assume will get them nowhere.
And finally, even if doctors were to seriously look for these pathogens in their patients coming into their offices with a long list of mysterious symptoms, they would come up dry. Most tests the blood lab offers cannot detect the viruses and bacteria that are invading so many people and causing so many conditions and symptoms. Many of the pathogens causing autoimmune labeled illnesses are yet to be discovered and classified; therefore, it would be quite impossible to detect. You can’t find something when you do not know what you are looking for. For example, medical communities believe there is only one Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)—the virus that causes mono—but in truth there are 61 strains of EBV that cause all kinds of different symptoms and illnesses. I revealed this truth in my book Medical Medium. You can read more about EBV and how it creates illnesses, including cancer, in my book Thyroid Healing.
If the medical industry was willing to put more money into researching pathogens, it would be more likely that answers would be coming out in literature today. Viruses and bacteria would be called by name and accurate tests would be created and administered. However, the most popular answer medicine has at the moment is that the body is attacking itself and as I have shared, this is not the truth. The second most popular answer is that it’s your faulty genes causing disease, which is a theory that’s quickly on the rise and still not the answer. In fact, people are told their body is attacking itself and that their genes are the problem.
The First Barrier to Destroy
The biggest barrier obstructing your path to true healing is this belief that the body is attacking itself. It may have been ingrained into you not only by your medical practitioners, but also by what you read on the Internet. You are told there is very little you can do to manage your symptom or condition, and nothing you can do to reverse it. This is a lie and something that should be discarded immediately not that you know the truth.
Know this: Your body is not attacking itself. I have already said it multiple times in this article, but I must say it over and over until we all understand it deep within our beings. It’s that fundamentally important. Your body is not self-destructive. And your body is not searching out healthy blood cells to harm and kill off. In fact, your body is doing the opposite. Every day your body is working for you. It is on your side. Your immune system cannot do one thing to harm a single cell in your body. It has never been able to do that, and it never will do that. When we know this deep within our being and replace the lie with this truth, something begins to change. That barrier that was once in your way is obliterated, and your path to healing becomes clear and unhampered.
It may seem like a small switch, but it is in fact very significant. When your mind is aware that it is a pathogen you are going after, a revelation clicks into place and your body begins to work even more efficiently to kill off that virus. Your immune system fires up and kicks into gear to work for you even harder. This is essential to understand. The power of knowing the truth cannot be underestimated, especially when it comes to healing from these diseases that have plagued so many people for so many years. If you know your body is working for you, it works for you even more. Recovery is finally possible when you are armed with real information that is not hiding behind funding agendas and the bureaucracy of the medical world. This simple understanding sends a message to your body to start breaking down the pathogen fast. And when you start robbing food from the pathogen, which I discuss in the section about healing foods, recovery is even faster.
Triggers vs. Cause
There are many medical professionals these days that are offering advice on how to manage your autoimmune disease. Some of this advice discusses “triggers” related to your illness but ironically it’s not even the correct triggers. For example, some experts are just beginning to say that EBV is a trigger for thyroid disease. This is because the never before known information that I have released has forced experts to look at EBV as a possible concern, but this has only led these experts to say that EBV could be a trigger. But in fact, EBV is not a trigger, it is the direct cause. This is a critical distinction that must be understood.
The reason we need to make a distinction between trigger and cause is because when we just manage our illness by avoiding triggers, we are not actively fighting the pathogen and addressing the root cause. And if today’s medical professionals and experts believe that EBV is possibly just a trigger but have no idea how to rid the EBV out of the body, then they’re not helping people to heal. We want to do everything we can to kill off the virus invading our body. When we simply just avoid triggers, for example gluten, the virus that’s really behind your suffering can cause further issues. And obviously, we want to do everything we can to ensure the pathogen does not proliferate and cause more symptoms again. Plus, not all triggers can be avoided. We all eventually lose a loved one for example, and the grief we experience can trigger illness if the cause hasn’t been addressed. Or we’re not choosing the right triggers we can avoid. When we recognize the true cause of our illness, we can start to move toward true and total recovery, which is something I’ve witnessed tens of thousands of people doing over the years with the information I’ve shared, and now many more.
Let’s take a look at some of the illness labeled as autoimmune diseases and conditions.
Medical science and research are unaware that lupus is a viral condition, specifically it is the body reacting to Epstein-Barr’s byproducts and neurotoxins. Medical science and research are completely unaware of this true cause. In fact, lupus is not even diagnosable. It is only visibly diagnosed by inflammation markers. I share more about the undiscovered true cause of lupus in Thyroid Healing.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
With this autoimmune labeled condition, EBV is in the body feeding on high levels of toxic heavy metals. It is not always lesions on the brain that are causing MS symptoms. Many people have spots that show up on brain scans, and they do not have any of the symptoms related to MS. There is so much that is going on in people’s brains: calcifications, crystallizations, dark spots, white spots, heavy metal deposits, MSG deposits, and chemical solvent stains. This does not mean someone has MS. What is actually causing the MS is EBV in addition to the heavy metals—a truth that medical communities are unaware of.
EBV is also the true cause of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. The thyroid becomes inflamed because the virus has infected it. Your immune system is not going haywire or out to get you. It’s this virus that’s causing the damage and making you feel miserable. Your body just needs the proper support, which I describe in Thyroid Healing, to triumph over the virus.
Celiac is not a genetic disease. It is inflammation in the intestinal lining from streptococcus bacteria. Medical communities believe that celiac is an autoimmune condition and that it’s limited to a sensitivity to gluten. Rather, wheat gluten is one trigger to this inflammation of the intestinal tract by feeding the strep bacteria in there.
Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes occurs when there is an injury to your pancreas. If you have type 1 diabetes, at one point some of your pancreatic tissue was injured from a viral condition or toxic bacteria. Your body is not attacking your pancreas.
In Grave’s disease, a mutated variety of EBV is causing inflammation, which is scarring the thyroid. There are specific unknown varieties of EBV that prompt the thyroid gland to produce more tissue and, as a result, more thyroid hormones. Find out more about Grave’s in Thyroid Healing.
Hepatitis A, B, C, D
All versions of hepatitis are viral conditions from the herpetic family, mainly the Epstein-Barr Virus. They are at different stages of what the virus is doing to the liver. Autoimmune hepatitis is a mistake all on its own because medical research doesn’t actually know the true cause of these conditions. They merely see inflammation and antibodies and make the conclusion that the antibodies are going after the liver. However, the immune system is creating these antibodies to help you go after the virus.
Mysterious Skin Rashing
Many varieties of mysterious skin rashing is from the shingles virus. Specifically, eczema and psoriasis can be a combination of EBV and shingles, both in the liver, feeding off of high levels of copper and DDT. The reason mysterious skin rashing does not get diagnosed as shingles is because when something does not look like textbook shingles, they would never think to call it that. However, what modern medicine is unaware of is that there are over 31 varieties of the shingles virus that they have yet to discover. Therefore, it would be impossible to diagnose it as such without further research.
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is another example of an illness that has been labeled as autoimmune simply because medical professionals are unaware of the true cause. The truth is that this condition is caused by a virus that’s injuring connective tissue; it’s not genetic.
The aches, pains, tenderness, fatigue, and stiffness of fibromyalgia are a result of EBV’s neurotoxins creating chronic inflammation of both the central nervous system and nerves throughout the body. Knowing the true cause means that you can begin to implement the steps needed to allow for healing. You can find out more about fibromyalgia and many other autoimmune diseases and condition in Thyroid Healing.
Now that you know that your body is not attacking itself, but rather that it is attacking a pathogen in your body, you can move onto the next step toward healing. The next thing that’s important for you to know is a truth about viruses that science has yet to discover: viruses eat. Modern medicine is still oblivious to the fact that viruses must eat in order to grow and proliferate. Without their favorite foods, viruses will die. Therefore, logically we must know which are their favorite foods and eliminate them from your diet so the virus can exit your system, leaving you free of your symptoms over time.
As an example, eczema is due to a virus in the liver. And that virus feeds off certain foods, which then creates an internal dermatoxin that leaches out from the liver, goes into the bloodstream, and then surfaces through the skin. When you know this is the real cause, you can take away the foods the virus likes best.
In my book Thyroid Healing I explain in depth how the Epstein-Barr virus feeds, what it feeds on, and how it excretes when it feeds. For example, EBV feeds on toxic heavy metals, as well as all pesticides, including old ones such as DDT stored in the liver, and certain foods we eat. In the book, I explain the entire process of this particular virus as it feeds, excretes, develops, and continues to feed.
Viruses Love Heavy Metals
Viruses love to feed off of heavy metals, such as mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead, nickel, alloys, steel, aluminum, and copper, that are in our systems, including in our liver. Heavy metals are not the cause of your autoimmune labeled disease. They simply feed the viruses that are the cause. The good news is you can take active steps to eliminate these metals from your body by eating the five heavy metal detox foods I recommend every day within a 24-hour period. These foods are wild blueberries, Hawaiian spirulina, barley grass juice extract powder, cilantro, and Atlantic dulse. All five of these foods work together to slowly eliminate the heavy metals. Find out how you can incorporate these foods in Thyroid Healing.
Many people believe chlorella is actually better for you than spirulina, but chlorella simply does not eliminate heavy metals the way spirulina does. Chlorella drops the metals instantly, while spirulina holds onto them and in tandem with the other key foods, effectively aids in the process of removing them from the body.
Foods that Viruses Love
Eggs may be considered the perfect food in some circles, but in reality, they are the perfect food for viruses. They essentially incubate viruses, making them stronger and more aggressive. Stay away from eggs if you have a disease that is labeled as autoimmune, especially lupus and PCOS. Unknown to medical communities, eggs are disastrous for those who have ovarian issues. Eggs feed every single virus and bacteria that create conditions that are thought to be autoimmune diseases.
Even if you are eating cage-free, natural eggs, these still act as food for pathogens. Viruses look for egg material in the body to feed on. They feed on the natural hormones that are in eggs, which act as a steroid for the virus. It does not matter what kind of eggs you get because unfortunately all eggs feed viruses.
In a very similar way, all dairy products feed viruses. Some doctors are knowledgeable about the allergy concern of eating dairy, but we have to recognize that simply eliminating dairy is not enough. We need to understand why we are eliminating it. It’s critical to stop eating foods like dairy and eggs if you have any symptoms or a chronic illness so that they do not continue to feed the pathogens that are causing your symptoms.
It is also a good idea to stay away from all corn products and canola oil. These are in almost every packaged food out there, even organic ones, so be mindful of what is in the ingredients list. If it is intimidating to you to avoid these ingredients that seem minor, think of it this way. The more fresh fruits and vegetables you include in our diet, the more apples, sweet potatoes, salads, bananas, and squash, the less room you have in diet for processed foods that likely contain ingredients you are trying to avoid. Think of crowding out your plate with so much good stuff that the packaged foods simply do not have as much space. Also, the more fresh fruits and vegetables you eat, the more you crave them. Keeping this in mind will help you increase your whole foods intake because you know that the more you do it, the easier it will get.
It’s also helpful to reduce animal protein while you’re healing because, again, we need room for the fruits, leafy greens, and vegetables, the secrets weapons, as I like to call them. If you like to eat animal protein, try not to eat it three times a day. Instead eat it once a day and find other filling options to enjoy. Instead of chicken on your salad, add black beans, avocado, sweet potato, or hummus. Instead of bacon with your toast, bake potato fries with lots of herbs of spices. And when you do eat animal proteins, choose the cleanest meats possible. Wild fish is one of the better choices.
When healing from chronic illnesses and symptoms, it’s helpful to minimize added fats in the diet to allow the liver to cleanse and toxins and viruses to be most effectively purged from the body. One easy way to cut down fats is to stay away from or minimize oils, even olive oil and coconut oil. A small drizzle here or there is fine, but do not overdo the oils. The same goes for other fat sources like nuts for example. Eat just a few with lots of fresh veggies versus having a large portion of nuts.
Foods that Fight Pathogens
There are so many amazing powerhouse foods that you can eat in order to give your body an extra boost when fighting off pathogens. The first group we can focus on is cruciferous vegetables. There is a misconception circulating around that cruciferous vegetables, also called brassicas, are harmful because of the goitrogenic compounds in them. We are being told to stay away from kale, broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts, but this is a misguided and unproductive trend. These foods are actually incredible for anyone with an illness that has been labeled as an autoimmune disease, including thyroid conditions. Cruciferous vegetables cannot harm you. They contain phytochemicals that actually fight the bug you are trying to get rid of. These foods can be some of your greatest allies in your path to healing, and it would be wise to include them, both raw and cooked, on a daily basis.
Straight cucumber juice is something that can be included daily in order to flush out toxins from the body. Straight celery juice is also important to include because its mineral salts clean up the liver, build up hydrochloric acid, and strengthen bile so you can break down bacteria and viruses in the intestinal tract that cause conditions like colitis, celiac, and crohn's disease. I share recipes for these foods and juices in my book Thyroid Healing.
Include plenty of squash in your diet. There are so many delicious varieties to enjoy, such as butternut, kabocha, spaghetti, and acorn. Also, remember to eat lots of fresh herbs like cilantro, rosemary, and thyme. Eat plenty of salads with red leaf lettuce, butter lettuce, arugula, parsley, and radishes. Radishes are a miracle food when fighting off pathogens. Radish greens kill off viruses, and the radishes themselves push poisons out of the body and support the thyroid.
Eating plenty of fruit is one of the best ways you can support your healing. If you are afraid of fruit, know that fruit cannot feed candida and fruit sugar isn’t bad for you. It’s the opposite—fruit is the most healing food on earth! So eat plenty of apples, bananas, oranges, and berries. Melons are wonderful for flushing out poisons that the virus creates. Bring in more tropical fruits like papaya, pineapple, and passionfruit if you are able to find them. Eat the fruits that are in season like pears and persimmons in the fall and peaches and plums in the summer. Fruit is an amazing antiviral food that is essential to include when you are fighting a pathogen such as Epstein-Barr virus that is causing your mystery illness. Bananas in particular are great for killing off pathogens in the intestinal tract. If you fear fruit, check out my chapter on Fruit Fear in my book Medical Medium.
Another power food that is worth seeking out is dandelion greens. These are often sold at farmers markets and health food stores among other greens like kale and collard greens. Dandelion greens are particularly supportive for the liver because they work to push out poisons that are created from a virus or bacteria.
There are so many wonderful herbal teas to include, as well. Nettle leaf and lemon balm are two particularly powerful ones that fight viruses. There is a phytochemical in lemon balm that helps you go after the virus you want to kill. Many people know that nettle leaf tea is anti-inflammatory, but they do not know why. The reason is because it’s killing the pathogens that are creating the inflammation in the first place. When you are drinking your herbal teas with this knowledge, the properties become that much more powerful.
In the same way, people are aware that turmeric is anti-inflammatory, but they do not know why. Turmeric has phytochemicals that are poisonous to the bugs that are inflaming people’s joints and backs. This herb is attacking viruses and bacteria.
Incorporating supplements is critical to fighting off the viruses that are causing your autoimmune disease. As I always recommend, talk to your medical practitioner before you begin taking supplements so you can work together to find the right dosages. Bring your doctor this information and work together to fight the virus with these powerful herbs and supplements. Be sure to get the right supplements. I have a list of preferred supplements that you can find on my website.
Zinc deficiencies are rampant and can trigger an autoimmune condition. Simply taking zinc can be a huge step toward healing and can be critical for anyone suffering from the symptoms associated with autoimmune diseases. When you take zinc sulfate, it goes directly to where the virus is and starts working on stopping it in its tracks. Additionally, zinc increases your immune system’s ability to fight.
B12 with adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin
Many people are recommending B12 today, which is good. However, there is still very little talk about the right kind of B12. When fighting a viral condition, it is essential to use a combination of both adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin. Including a methylfolate supplement along with this specific B12 is especially helpful.
When fighting a viral condition, it’s important to include some vitamin c supplements, particularly the liposomal c. The Liposomal c I recommend on my preferred supplements page does not contain any corn, which feeds viruses, unlike other brands. Ester C is also very helpful.
Licorice is another important one to include because it is antiviral. This supplement can aid your body in knocking down the virus, particularly EBV, that is causing your illness.
L-lysine is a foundational amino acid that hinders and stops herpetic viruses. It is possible to have a very high dosage of l-lysine. but talk to your doctor first to come to an agreement together.
As you stop believing that your body is attacking itself and start believing in the truth that your body is attacking a pathogen, you will begin to turn the tide. And as you progressively remove the foods that feed viruses and bring in the foods that fight viruses, you will begin building a strong foundation for healing. As you begin to include more antiviral, immune-supporting supplements, you are giving your body that much more power to fight the pathogen that has caused your autoimmune labeled disease.
I do not prefer to use the term autoimmune when speaking about conditions such as Hashimoto’s, celiac, lupus, or any of the other illness I have touched on above. Autoimmune is an incorrect label because your immune system is not attacking itself; your body is not turning on you. I use the term autoimmune because it is what we are all familiar with. It is the easiest way to communicate about these conditions. The real term for these conditions should be ‘viral immune’. Keep in mind that if I did not mention your autoimmune disease, your body is still not attacking itself. It is directly related to an invader in your body that you need to eliminate. It is not a genetic issue that you have no power to fix. This information I have shared today is here to empower you. It is ahead of research and science and is there as a beacon of light for you and your loved ones. You can heal and reverse your symptoms. You can walk without pain. You can wake up with energy. You can get your weight back on, or get it back off. You can watch your skin’s rashes fade away as new, unblemished skin is taking its place. All of these things are possible. All of the healing methods above will work together to get your life back to what it was. The goal is to one day be free of symptoms and free from countless doctor’s visits every week. Just remember to be compassionate with yourself, and take one step today and then another step tomorrow. I support you completely.

Have you or someone you love been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or psoriatic arthritis (PA)? Have you been told that the cause is a mystery or that it’s your body attacking itself? The truth is that there’s a real cause behind these illnesses that medical science and research are unaware of. Once you know the real cause, you can begin to move forward with healing as you will be addressing the root issue.
The Autoimmune Theory
Most people are told that their rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis are caused by an antibody that has been created within the body that attacks the joints. This is a misguided theory that not only has never been proven, but has also sadly become law within the medical community. When this antibody was discovered, science and research did not even know what it did, and they still don’t. This means that all of the treatments and prognoses that have been delivered since this theory was put in place have been precariously balancing on an antibody whose function is still a complete mystery, which makes the true cause of RA and PA just as enigmatic as it was when research on these illnesses first began. Additionally, since the current treatments and medications prescribed for patients are based on this erroneous theory, there are so many people who are still suffering from swelling, stiffness, and pain in the joints, as well as the other symptoms that are associated with these diseases.
When people first began suffering from mystery illnesses in the 1950s, research and science was compelled to blame hormones. This is because, like so many other times in medical research, all the money was in hormones. There was such a deluge of research being conducted on hormones at the time that pharmaceutical companies were primed and ready to sell their new hormone drugs they had been itching to promote.
However, one doctor was not convinced hormones were to blame, so he got funding for more research and dug further. He eventually stumbled upon an antibody, which, he thought, was the ticket. He created a theory that the antibody was the body’s inexplicable weapon against itself, even though the actual reason for the antibody was still completely unknown. This research was so heavily funded that it would have been unacceptable to emerge and explain that they have no idea what the antibody does. Therefore, some sort of conclusion was necessary, some theory that would stick. The reason researchers eventually concluded the body was attacking itself was because it protected the institution of modern medicine. In this theory, the patient is blamed above all else, which in turn prevents any fingers being pointed at medicine. Currently, most funding is going toward gene research, which always concludes that the patient’s genes are to blame and there is nothing to be done. This is just another way to avoid what the real problem is and to place all the blame on the individual who is suffering. I share the truth about these misconceptions in my book, Thyroid Healing.
The Truth about the Antibody
This antibody that has become the false posterchild for autoimmune diseases is actually just one of many antibodies that have yet to be discovered by science and research. The most ironic part about the events of the last half century is that everything medical research claims to be true about this antibody is actually the exact opposite. Rather than attacking the body, this antibody has been created by the body to protect itself from an outside intruder. The antibody, while an indicator of something being attacked, is not the one doing the attacking. It is proof of your body doing everything it can to support and safeguard you. It doesn’t go after tissue; it goes after the pathogen.
The True Cause of RA and PA
We are currently living in a virus culture. Our world is rampant with pathogens that are causing the diseases so many are mystified by and calling autoimmune. Medical science and research are unaware that Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is the cause of so many illnesses, including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, thyroid disorders, lupus, Lyme disease, tinnitus, vertigo, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriatic arthritis. There are over 60 varieties of EBV, which may come as a shock to anyone who is only nominally familiar with this virus as well as to those who work in the medical field. I cover this virus in-depth in my book Thyroid Healing.
Psoriatic arthritis is created by EBV, which feeds on the heavy metal copper in the liver. Toxic varieties of copper are perfect food for the virus that creates PA. When there is an abundant amount of food that EBV likes, such as copper, the virus becomes stronger and more rampant in the body, attacking the joints and tissues. EBV then creates an internal dermatoxin, which is different to the known external dermatoxin, which then surfaces to the skin. This is when a rash, either of the psoriasis and/or eczema variety, occurs, as well as aches, pains, and inflammation. This process is further explained in my book, Thyroid Healing. Medical communities are not aware that this is the true cause of PA, or even that viruses feed on specific foods, metals, and toxins. This is one huge reason why people are not able to receive the answers and help they need to truly heal.
Copper can be absorbed into the system in many ways. Someone could have lived in an old house with ancient pipes made of copper that turned everything green. Or they could have used copper pans that flaked the metal off into the food. Copper is rife in pesticides, which means living near farmland, even 50 miles away, can be conducive to toxic copper exposure. Copper is in all pesticides, rodenticides, herbicides, and fungicides, which means we should avoid spraying both inside and outside the house. Anytime you purchase new linens or fabrics, such as towels, sheets, clothing, underwear, or socks, it would be prudent to wash them twice before using. New linens and clothing are loaded with fungicides, which are full of copper that can seep into the skin, your largest organ. It’s important to note that this toxic heavy metal copper is different to the helpful trace mineral copper which is found in plants.
Rheumatoid arthritis is also caused by Epstein-Barr Virus that’s in a late stage (read more about the stages of EBV in my book Thyroid Healing,) except this variety of EBV either does not like to feed on copper as much, or there simply is not an excessive amount of toxic copper in the system. The particular variety of EBV that causes RA much prefers the heavy metal mercury as its food. This specific variety of EBV gets into connective tissue, joints, and ligaments in its fourth stage, causing inflammation that’s evidence of your body trying to hold the invader at bay. Swelling of the knuckles, cervical spine, and the like is an indication that the body is reacting to the virus burrowing deeper and causing permanent damage to nerves and tissue. In its milder forms, this may display itself as mystery aches and pains. In its advanced forms, people experience severe joint swelling and a diagnosis of RA. This information is unknown to medical science and research.
The Very First Step
The most important step you can take today toward true healing is way beyond diet or avoiding sprays. You must first know in your heart the true cause of your disease. Your body is not attacking itself. It is the biggest mistake to believe your immune system is not supporting you. When you believe your disease is autoimmune, you are preventing true healing from taking place because you are not giving your body the support it needs as it continues the fight against the pathogen in your body. Knowing your body is not fighting itself but rather a pathogen such as a virus ignites your immune system to become stronger, more focused, and work even harder for you. Additionally, when you know you should be fighting a virus, you can learn the practical steps you can take to give your body as much support as you possibly can.
How to Heal
Unknown to medical research and science, the antibody was created to fight Epstein-Barr Virus; however, your body still needs all the support it can get. The following are some steps to take that can help you to begin recovering from rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.
Remove Heavy Metals
Heavy metals are one of EBV’s favorite foods. And almost all of us unknowingly have toxic heavy metals inside our bodies. These metals make it possible for the virus to continue growing and becoming more prolific. And the more it feeds on metals such as mercury and copper, the more toxic waste matter the virus excretes in the body, which leads to the symptoms of psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis. To get rid of heavy metals, there are five important heavy metal detox foods to include in your diet daily: barley grass juice extract powder, cilantro, Hawaiian spirulina, wild blueberries, and Atlantic dulse. To learn more about the heavy metal detox foods, check out my article and radio show called Heavy Metal Detox.
Foods to Avoid
When healing from RA and PA, it is essential to avoid eating things that happen to be some of EBV’s favorite foods, such as eggs and dairy. Also, it’s best to avoid pork because it burdens the liver to such a degree that it gives viruses an opportunity to proliferate, grow, and inflame the joints and skin. It’s also important to stay away from gluten as well because unknown to all medical communities it also provides fuel for the virus. If you have taken out eggs, dairy, and gluten, and you are still experiencing symptoms after several months, consider removing all grains from your diet, including oats and rice, while you heal. Some people tolerate grains well but for some, grains have to be removed to allow for deeper healing. It’s also helpful to avoid corn, soy, and canola oil. To find out more about why these foods are best removed from the diet if you have a symptom or illness, you can read full explanations in my book, Thyroid Healing.
The Healing Food: Fruit
While many have been told to avoid fruit because of its sugar content, this trend is actually another example of misinformation that is only preventing people from taking advantage of the powerful antiviral properties in bananas, dates, apples, melons, mangoes, and all other kinds of fruit. Fruit is the most antioxidant-rich food in the world. Antioxidant should really be synonymous with longevity, as fruit is the best food to prolong life and fight disease. Wild blueberries, blackberries, and cherries are among the most antioxidant-filled foods. You can focus on whichever fruits are most attractive to you. If you have the luxury of a farmers market near you, make it a weekly habit to do your shopping there and explore the numerous varieties of fruit that are available to you: apples, pears, peaches, persimmons, apricots, watermelons, and dates. Different kinds of citrus are also a wonderful addition to your fruit-filled diet. While some people may think oranges, lemon water, or grapefruit cause flare ups in their RA or PA, it only feels that way because the citrus is detoxifying the poisons and viral byproduct in your system. In addition to fruit, be sure to eat plenty of leafy greens, vegetables, and include celery juice daily.
For more information on other foods to include for these conditions, refer to my books Medical Medium, Life-Changing Foods, and Thyroid Healing. You can also read about many healing foods on my blog. In addition, the 28 Day Healing Cleanse in my book Medical Medium is ideal for these conditions.
For healing supplements, consider including the following supplements:
Zinc sulfate is one of the most important resources to fight EBV. The body uses up supplies and even deep reserves of zinc at a rapid rate—meaning that it’s very common to become zinc-deficient when you have EBV, if you weren’t already. This supplement gives a major boost to the immune system so that EBV cells can be destroyed and suppressed.
L-Lysine inhibiting and reduces an EBV viral load and acts as an anti-inflammatory to the entire body.
Cat’s claw is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-viral that can be very helpful for rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.
Taking a methylfolate supplement that supports methylation issues along with the right B-12 supplement that contains adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin is very important for those suffering with rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.
Glutathione helps to detoxify the liver, which is where the virus and toxins that cause these conditions can be found.
Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) repairs and fortifies areas of the body that have been damaged by the virus.
Mullein leaf’s strong anti-viral abilities make it an important supplement to consider.
The healing information and dietary and supplement guidance shared in my radio show and blog post on psoriasis and eczema would also be helpful to incorporate.
Many people with RA go to an infrared sauna to help with the fatigue and stiffness. This can be a good option for you, just be sure not to have the heat set too high Be conscious about how long you stay in the sauna. Another extremely helpful treatment is gentle massage therapy, one of the oldest modalities since the beginning of time. Healing touch from one person to another can be incredible for RA.
Rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis are not autoimmune diseases, and this myth is one that needs to rectified immediately so that the millions of people who are suffering can begin to get true answers. When you are given wrong information about your illness, you are essentially given a stop sign. My hope is for you to walk away from this understanding of RA or PA with a renewed hope and green light. Realizing that your body is fighting a virus that is feeding on toxins and metals in your system is the first and most powerful thing you can do. You must let go of the idea that your body is working against you. It is impossible for the body to attack a single cell in our bodies.
When you are considering your healing options, it can be overwhelming. Remember to take it slow and at your own pace. Everyone’s path is going to look a little different. Maybe the foods to avoid will take you some time to remove but the supplements will come more easily. Maybe eating fruit will be an easy step but including celery juice is too much for you up front. Do what you can today and keep building on it from here. Never forget that your body is working with you, not against you, and healing is possible.

If you or someone you love have been diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), there is likely a lot of confusion surrounding your doctors visits. Perhaps you have been told that your body is attacking itself and that taking medication is the only answer to managing this disease for the rest of your life. This prognosis can make people feel helpless, with no hope for their health to improve. It can be especially difficult having this particular disease because getting out of bed or standing up causes the symptoms of dizziness and lightheadedness, which then prevents you from doing anything at all.
While you may have been told that POTS is an autoimmune disease and that your body is inexplicably attacking itself, this is misguided information and should be discarded immediately. There is a real cause to your illness and a direct path to fighting it. The medical research community cannot provide helpful answers to those who are trying to heal from POTS because they have not put enough funding into studies that can actually direct them to the true cause. In this article I will share the true cause of POTS with you. The information provided in this article is not contaminated by internal funding, kickbacks, or trendy traps. This is a pure source of information that is here to help you and put you on the right path toward healing.
The Autoimmune Mistake
Thousands of people have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease such as POTS. Patients are told that their bodies are working against them and making them sick, and they are told this as if it is verifiable fact. However, this “autoimmune” theory is just that, a theory. It is not fact that your body is attacking itself. There is not even scientific evidence to support this. The origin of this mistake dates back to the 1950s and 60s when women were coming down with symptoms in droves. This was the first time in history perfectly healthy women were suddenly becoming very sick. Doctors offices around the nation were filled with people complaining of mysterious symptoms like migraines, fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, and lightheadedness. Since medical research was focused on studying hormones at the time, it was the perfecting timing to blame these symptoms on hormones, even though there was no correlation to make such a conclusion about these mystery diseases. Hormone medications were in production and ready to be released, so the pharmaceutical industry knew they could make more money by telling these sick women they needed hormone therapy.
However, one doctor with good intentions was not convinced hormones were the answer. He got funding and started his own research to try to find out the true cause of the mystifying diseases. He came across an antibody that had since then been undiscovered. The only thing this researcher could conclude was that the antibody existed. He could not explain where it came from, how it was produced, why it was produced, or even what it did. His team came up with multiple theories at the end of their search, simply because they needed to have some conclusion after all the money was spent on their work. One of the theories was that the antibody was produced by the body in order to attack itself, causing the myriad of symptoms patients were complaining about. The reason they landed on this particular theory was not because they had due reason that supported it, but because it made it extremely convenient for modern medicine as an institution. Not only did they now have this explanation for the symptoms that the rest of the world would readily believe, but this theory allowed them to point the blame on the sick person. Now it was not the fault of modern medicine, but the fault of the one who was sick. The one suffering became the scapegoat every single time someone came in complaining about symptoms that baffled the doctor.
The reason it is critical to understand the history of the autoimmune theory is because we must first accept that our body is not attacking itself. This is only a theory that has become law in modern medicine due to the perpetuation of a practice that keeps the healthcare industry safe from being blamed themselves. A relatable example that will probably sound familiar to you is the modern day research of genes. These days, the only research that gets decent funding is the kind that is related to genes. It is common practice to blame your genes and your heritage for any symptoms you may have. Lifestyle is often forgotten and not even part of the conversation because blaming your genes is yet another way researchers can blame you instead of taking the responsibility themselves. I share more about this ‘Autoimmune Confusion’ and the misguided gene theory in Thyroid Healing, along with other current trends and belief systems that are sadly harming many peoples’ health today.
The True Cause of POTS
If you have POTS, your body is not attacking itself. The reason I have to say this over and over is because we have been told this for so many years that we start to truly believe it, even if we have initial doubts. The truth is that POTS is a viral issue. There is a virus in your body that is causing the symptoms you are suffering from. I have to give credit where credit is due because modern medicine does have some inkling that POTS has to do with a virus but their theory is that a virus may possibly be a trigger. This is incorrect. The virus is not a trigger, the virus is the cause. However, that has only been a background explanation. POTS is still touted as being autoimmune, even while they have an idea that it is viral.
POTS is specifically a neurotoxin disorder. The neurotoxins are created by the virus called Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) sitting in the liver for a long period of time. This specific variety of EBV produces neurotoxins that float around and swell up the nerves, preventing you from exercising and causing brain fog. The liver’s job is to push blood up to the heart; however, if the bloodstream is full of neurotoxins, the heart will have to work much harder than normal, which is part of what makes you lightheaded when you stand up. The heart has to work so much harder in someone who has POTS because poison is saturating the liver. The poison not only goes into the bloodstream, but it also goes into the nerves and inflames them.
There is an actual antibody in those with POTS, the same antibody that is being blamed for attacking the body. However, it was created for an entirely different purpose. The antibody was actually created to fight Epstein-Barr Virus. The antibody is not fighting against you, but rather working for you. Its entire job is to help you fight off the pathogen that has gotten into your system, the one that is causing dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, brain fog, and fatigue. This is good news. This means that your body is giving you a chance to truly heal, not keeping you from healing.
Healing from POTS
The answer to healing from POTS begins with acknowledging, and truly believing, that your body is not attacking itself. Your body is working for you. Before you can begin to actually heal, you must recognize that there is a virus you are trying to fight. Afterall, how can you stop an intruder if you don’t know what your intruder is? This first step is absolutely essential.
The next step starts with learning what it looks like to live a lifestyle that fights viruses instead of promotes them. Food is often the first thing to change when healing from a disease that has been incorrectly labeled as autoimmune. However, be careful not to get trapped into a trendy diet that says you must lower your carbohydrates and increase your protein.
There are many foods we have been told are carbs, like chocolate cakes, cookies, and donuts, and these are obviously things we should avoid if we want to heal. However, these foods are actually loaded with more fat than with carbs as they are typically cooked with lard, butter, oils, and other ingredients extremely high in fat. Additionally, these foods are full of gluten, sugar, preservatives, dyes, chemicals, and natural flavorings, all which are not helpful in lowering your viral load. Good carbs are things that are found in nature and they’re loaded with the nutrients and healing properties your body needs to heal. A diet that is healing for POTS is full of fruit, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and winter squash. If you have been told told to stay away from these foods, now is the time to bring them back in and know that they are some of the best foods for your body. Fruits and starchy vegetables have antiviral properties that will help you fight EBV and heal from POTS. Also, by eating more fruits, leafy greens, and vegetables, you are creating less and less room for the fatty and unhealthy foods that make your liver even more sluggish and help EBV to proliferate.
Focus on all kinds of fruit, leafy greens, and starchy vegetables. Keep animal protein to a minimum or eliminate it altogether while you’re healing because it slows down the healing process. Specifically, stay away from eggs, pork, and all dairy, no matter what mammal the milk has come from. These things feed EBV more than anything and should be avoided when you are trying to heal from POTS. To find out the best foods to include and delicious recipes for them, check out my books Life-Changing Foods and Thyroid Healing.
It’s helpful to consume at least four ounces of fresh celery juice daily and ideally 16 ounces per day. Celery juice contains undiscovered mineral salts that repair the central nervous system. Make this a daily ritual of yours while you begin to heal. Imagine the mineral salts saturating your nerve endings to reboot your whole system every time you drink it.
Incorporate some good herbal teas into your daily routine as well. There are so many wonderful teas available to us today, such as nettle leaf, peppermint, lemon balm, and ginger. These herbal teas have effective antiviral properties, and they are also delicious. Try to snack on something every 45 minutes. This is a small but powerful tool for those healing from POTS. If you would like some ideas for healthy snack options, check out my 16 Snacks for Adrenal Fatigue that can be perfect for someone with POTS.
There are many supplements we can include when healing. The following are some fantastic options that help fight EBV. To find out more about how to heal from EBV, reference my book Thyroid Healing.
Zinc sulfate boosts the immune system by strengthening white blood cells so that they can seek out and destroy EBV cells.
Vitamin B12, as adenosylcobalamin with methylcobalamin, protects your entire body from EBV neurotoxin damage. A good methylfolate supplement may help you with your methylation issues alongside the B12.
L-lysine acts as an anti-inflammatory to the entire nervous system by inhibiting and reducing EBV viral load.
Licorice root destroys EBV cells, especially when they are in their second and third cycles. It is also one of the most powerful herbs for restoring the adrenal glands.
Lemon balm kills off and repels viral and bacterial cells, all while strengthening lymphocytes so the immune system can further fight off the virus.
Vitamin C is especially good at getting rid of EBV over time, flushing out toxins, and building up the central nervous system.
Goldenseal is a powerful herbal antibiotic and immune system enhancer that contains potent antibacterial properties.
It can be challenging to even begin to take healing steps when you have a disease like POTS because even the most menial tasks can be so exhausting. If you have friends and family who love and support you, lean on them and ask for help. It can be a game changer to have a strong support system who is fighting the virus with you. If you want to truly knock down EBV and gain your health back, ask someone to help you take your supplements. Juice celery with a family member every morning and make it part of your home life. Ask friends to come over to make new meals with you. Your friends and family want to see you better, and people often surprise us with abounding generosity when we simply ask for help. And if you don’t have anyone to ask for support, know that your body is your strongest support system. It is doing everything it can to fight EBV, and it will be even better able to fight it with this information and the right foods and supplements. One day a time, you can heal.

The apricot is an amazing food for rejuvenation. It’s high in amino acids such as cysteine and glutamine, as well as minerals such as selenium and magnesium in their most bioactive forms. The fruit is also loaded with more than 40 trace minerals, some of which are bonded to each other as cofactor trace minerals, creating bioactive natural alloys that science has yet to uncover. Apricots have phytochemical compounds that attach and bind themselves to chemical molecules such as DDT deep within the body, lowering the risk of many cancers.
Apricots are a B12-enhancing food, meaning they eliminate unhelpful elements in the digestive tract that get in the way of the body’s healthy B12 production. When you eat an apricot, the skin collects and destroys mold, yeast, unneeded Candida, and other detrimental fungus in the body, plus the skin is high in enzymes and coenzymes that are DNA-protecting. An apricot’s flesh thwarts the gut’s production of ammonia, a destructive gas that can leach through the walls of the intestinal tract and cause problems throughout the body, from brain fog to dental issues. (This condition is called ammonia permeability, and it is as yet unknown to science. I cover it in detail in Medical Medium.)
Apricot is a warming food and an energy stabilizer that boosts the growth of red blood cells, strengthens your heart, and nourishes your brain. When your reserves are low from pushing yourself to the limit, turn to apricots— they’re a sensational life bring-back food.
If you have any of the following conditions, try bringing apricots into your life:
Cancer, gallstones, gallbladder disease, bursitis, celiac disease, diverticulitis, Lyme disease, acne, anemia, hypertension, asthma, arthritis, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), fibromyalgia, mold exposure, yeast infections, postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), Raynaud’s syndrome, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, diabetes, parasites, ammonia permeability
If you have any of the following symptoms, try bringing apricots into your life:
Temperature sensitivities, fatigue, lightheadedness, body aches, chronic nausea, unquenchable thirst, gum pain, shortness of breath, food allergies, Candida overgrowth, sweating disorders (whether not capable of sweating at all or sweating too much), itchy skin, brain fog, bloating, body pain, colon spasms, congestion, cravings, flatulence, headaches, loss of energy, weight gain
Apricots help us bring heart to life. They open us up, making us more kindhearted and helping those of us who have trouble with trust to tone down any nervousness or skittishness. Apricots calm us when we feel threatened and regulate a defensive nature, putting us in touch with our intuition so that we know when to keep our guards up and when to drop our defenses. When we become frustrated in any type of situation, apricots are excellent soothers.
Apricots have been taken for granted in this century, overshadowed by shinier, flashier, and tastier food items. As you learn to appreciate this fruit for its health offerings—which top so many other foods—open your eyes and heart to the work opportunities, friends, and family that you’ve also taken for granted.
* Apricots are so energy-shifting, so transformative, that you only need to eat one to enjoy its benefits. When dealing with a health condition, though, try to consume four apricots daily for support and healing.
* An apricot offers its greatest benefits from 3 p.m. onward. This is when the fruit’s nutrients are at their highest levels—and most bioactive and assimilable.
* Have patience with apricot ripening. Wait until an apricot is well ripe before eating; do not eat the fruit underripe. Don’t worry about juiciness, though. An apricot doesn’t need to be dripping with juice to be beneficial.
* When fresh apricots aren’t in season, sulfur-free dried apricots are an incredible alternative. While not every dried fruit is valuable, apricots tend to hold all their medicinal qualities when dehydrated. The potassium actually increases—unlike many other fruits—when apricots are dried.
If you’re always looking for a quick, easy snack to grab as you go about your day, these apricot bars will be perfect. They’re sweet and chewy, with a subtle crunch of almonds. They only have four ingredients and take just a few seconds to make, and they’ll keep in the freezer for up to a month.
1 cup dried apricots
1⁄2 cup dates, pitted
1⁄2 cup almonds
1⁄4 cup coconut
Place all the ingredients in a food processor and process until well combined. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and press the mixture into a large, at rectangle about half an inch thick. Chill in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before cutting into bars. Store the bars in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 month.

Do you struggle to fall asleep at night because of an overwhelming need to move your legs? Maybe you experience the aggravating sensation of an itch or tickle deep in your limbs that can’t be scratched? Millions of people are suffering from an issue with restless legs, but unfortunately medical communities are not aware of the true causes of this condition. As a result, doctors are unable to offer effective suggestions for addressing this syndrome’s root cause. In this article you will learn some of the most common causes of restless legs, along with different foods, supplements, and practices you can implement to recover from this condition and begin to experience the deep, restful nights of sleep you deserve.
The Story of My First RLS Case
I’d like to start by telling you a story about the first time I encountered restless legs syndrome. I was 14 years old and was working as a stock boy in a grocery store. My job was to put away all the canned goods and the different food items. I was already helping people with their health problems at the time and some of the customers would come up to me seeking help with their different struggles. A very distraught woman came up to me one day looking for advice. She told me that she was up all night moving her legs around. I was fascinated by this unusual idea. She explained that she would go to relax and unwind at night and have some tea and begin to fall asleep and then she’d get a tickle that would incite an uncontrollable urge to move her legs around. This ticklish feeling that caused her to constantly shift her legs would continue throughout the night. Typically, after some time passed, the woman would get up out of bed, try to take her mind off of it and then begin winding down once again. Unfortunately, she would turn off the light, the deep ticklish vibration would resume, and the whole process would repeat itself until it was morning and, angry and exhausted, she would pass out and sleep until late morning. Sometimes she would go days without rest until she was so worn out she couldn’t help but fall asleep.
That’s when Spirit taught me about restless legs syndrome. And while there can be many different causes, none of which medical communities know or understand, Spirit taught me that for this woman it was a neurological condition. She was dealing with a heavy metal deposit in a certain part of her brain, specifically the right frontal lobe. For her, it was about removing the heavy metals. The ticklish sensation she was experiencing in her leg was being triggered by an electrical impulse trying to find a new path around a small heavy metal deposit in her brain.
During the day, as this woman went about her life, she was relying on the other side of her brain because she had a number of things to do. This frenzy of electrical activity overrode the impulse that caused so much aggravation during the nighttime. In the evening, when the one side of her brain was in a more relaxed state, the electrical impulse on the other side became much more obvious.
The grocery store I worked at was stocked with an abundance of cilantro on account of my recommendation. At this point in time, no one else in the world knew about cilantro’s incredible ability to help rid the body of heavy metals, such as mercury. This made it easy for my client because cilantro was one of my key recommendations. I also encouraged her to bring in ample celery juice as well. As I share in my book Life-Changing Foods, celery juice has a critical, life-enhancing mineral salt blend that science has yet to discover. Nutrition science merely suggests that there is sodium in celery, but what they have yet to recognize is that celery contains a complex mineral blend. The neurotransmitter support found in this herb helps electrical impulses do what they need to do.
At the time this woman approached me, there wasn’t a great juicer on the market. Instead of recommending a juicer, I suggested she blend and strain an ample amount of cilantro and celery every single day, and I recommended she add it to her meals and snacks as well. At that point in time, there weren’t the abundant supplement options we now have, so she relied heavily on the incredible healing properties of the foods I recommended.
It was miraculous how quickly this woman found freedom from her restless legs syndrome. After she healed, anytime she saw me working in the grocery store, she would shout, run over, and give me a huge hug. Her relief was enormous! That was the first case of restless legs syndrome I ever encountered, but it definitely wasn’t the last.
Different Causes of Restless Legs Syndrome
The name restless legs syndrome does not describe just one particular state of suffering. This syndrome presents itself in a variety of different ways, all of which can vary in the level of severity. Below are some of the most common causes of restless legs syndrome and some of the symptoms you may experience. Medical communities are unaware that these are the true causes of RLS.
In some cases of restless legs syndrome, people get an itch that they cannot scratch and cannot soothe. The infuriating feeling of itchiness usually occurs deep within the legs rather than on the surface. Typically, this kind is caused by a virus, the shingles family virus. There are undiscovered varieties of the shingles virus that don’t cause rashes but do cause many other symptoms. Medical communities aren’t yet aware of this. If you are experiencing this particular variety of restless legs syndrome, check out the “Shingles” chapter in my first book Medical Medium which talks about the different shingles varieties. Consider incorporating some of the healing foods, herbs, and supplements outlined in that chapter or take the chapter to your practitioner for help applying it.
Another form of restless legs can stem from sciatica. The sciatic nerve can cause a lot of restless leg issues, even if you don’t feel it directly at the nerve. In this case, restless legs syndrome can be caused by a disc issue, a direct injury, or it could also be triggered by a rashing or non-rashing strain of the shingles virus inflaming the sciatic nerve. Epstein-Barr virus, which I cover extensively in my book Thyroid Healing, can cause this too, but shingles is far more common. The shingles virus swells up the nerves in the lumbar spine, forcing the discs to move and causing the nerves to get squeezed. This is also behind the confusion when people are told they have a slipped disc, but they haven’t done anything to “cause” it. Viral activity alone can cause the discs in our spines to be forced out of position. That’s something your doctor isn’t going to tell you because they don’t know this.
If you feel that your restless legs are stemming from a sciatic nerve issue, make sure to ice it at night and use warm heat in the morning. This will help calm that nerve down and help it begin to heal. I share the specifics of this strategy in my radio show and article on Recovering From Physical Injuries. Bringing antiviral supplements into your protocol, like those I list in Medical Medium and Thyroid Healing, can be critical as well.
It might surprise you to learn this, but restless legs can also be triggered by food moving through the colon. Sometimes people develop a little bit of gastritis because of inflammation from bacteria. As the gas bubbles are moving through the intestine they can hit inflamed areas, little pockets in the lining known as diverticulosis that could be caused by old E. coli or streptococcus. These gas bubbles traveling past can trigger restless legs because there are countless nerve endings in our intestinal tract. To better grasp this, it might be helpful to know that the intestinal tract is like a second nervous system.
This is one of the most irritating and common causes of restless legs syndrome. Gas bubbles moving through the intestinal tract irritate the nerve endings in the colon that are connected to the lower half of your body, which can trigger sensations in the legs.
Another aspect of the intestinal causes of restless legs syndrome can be related to low HCL and low bile production. Medical science and research are unaware of this cause also. When there are not enough bile salts coming out of the liver to breakdown food properly, the food that isn’t broken down goes through the intestinal tract and rubs against sensitive nerves. Incorporating celery juice into your diet can be an incredible support for those suffering from this particular type of restless legs syndrome.
The liver and the intestines can go hand in hand when it comes to restless legs syndrome. The liver can contribute to the low bile production that impacts the body’s ability to digest foods properly. The liver can easily grow overheated because it is so overburdened with viruses, poisons, pesticides, herbicides, DDT, adrenaline and more. The liver has to take on every toxin you are exposed to and attempt to deal with it. You might even have a virus like Epstein-Barr in the liver causing scar tissue. Medical science and research are sadly unaware of this truth. Fortunately, this particular issue can be addressed. Check out my radio show on Epstein-Barr and my book Thyroid Healing, which goes into great detail on information about the Epstein-Barr virus that’s undiscovered by research and science, to find out how you can recover your health.
The liver can grow sluggish, stagnant, and unresponsive, but this organ can also grow over-responsive and can begin to squirm, wriggle, and spasm. Some people feel this activity, but others do not. People might not even realize restless legs are what are keeping them up; they might just wake up in the middle of the night and not know why. They may even mistakenly assume it’s because they need to go to the bathroom. Others know that their restless legs are the issue, but they do not realize that their overburdened, spasming livers are the cause.
You can have so many things going on in the liver such as sluggishness or liver heat that might not be recognizable. They might not even show up on a blood test, CT scan, or MRI. A fatty liver can be detected, but a pre-fatty liver, which is currently undiagnosable, can cause restless legs as well. It is important to remember that an overburdened liver can be the hidden culprit behind restless legs syndrome and it is important to care for this vital organ by removing the Foods Not To Eat listed in Medical Medium and you can also consider doing an extended version of my 28 Day Cleanse in the same book.
Heavy Metal Deposits
As shown through the story of my first restless legs syndrome case, this condition can also be caused by heavy metals that interrupt the neural pathways in the brain. But what I did not mention earlier is that this condition can also come from MSG deposits in the brain as well. If you think your particular restless legs syndrome is related to heavy metals, working to clear them out of your system is critical. Check out the heavy metal detox on my blog or in my first book, Medical Medium.
Restless legs do not usually arise from just one thing. There are multiple factors and sometimes cases involve a number of them at once. You can actually be experiencing all of the factors mentioned above at the same time.
In some unique cases it may be more straightforward. The restless legs may be related to a frozen SI joint, spinal issue, or an abundance of calcifications throughout the body, which may make falling asleep more challenging than usual. But in many cases there are multiple contributing factors that cause sleeping or even napping to become an unimaginable challenge.
Sadly, the lack of information surrounding this condition forces doctors to have very few beneficial solutions to offer their patients. Some doctors offer their patients medication. And in some instances, certain medications can temporarily help lessen the suffering for a person which can allow them to heal in other ways. Although medication can be beneficial in certain circumstances, it’s helpful to be cautious with it. Try to be your own advocate and get the best information available to help you heal.
Supportive Foods & Supplements
The supplements and foods that are right for each individual will depend largely on what factors are contributing to their restless legs. In the case of heavy metal deposits, cilantro and the heavy metal detox smoothie are incredibly important to begin removing these metals from the body. This smoothie isn’t just for detoxing heavy metals though, these ingredients, which include wild blueberries, cilantro, dulse, spirulina, and barley grass juice powder offer support to the body in countless ways. You can find out more about how to make the heavy metal smoothie here and read about the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of these particular foods in my second book, Life-Changing Foods.
Incorporating a plethora of fruits and vegetables into your diet can be a fantastic way to begin combating restless legs syndrome. Potatoes are a miracle food for restless legs. Try and eat steamed potatoes. They have powerful anti-viral properties and are wonderfully healing. You can read about the potato’s miraculous qualities in my book, Life-Changing Foods. They have enough lysine to kill off viruses residing in the liver that may be contributing to someone’s restless legs syndrome. Do not let biased, agenda-driven misinformation about potatoes dissuade you from bringing this healing food into your diet.
If your restless legs syndrome stems from a heavy metal issue, eating mango before bed can help with calming the electrical impulses in the brain. Celery juice is also a powerful aid for restless legs syndrome and can benefit the body in multiple ways. Celery juice was particularly helpful for the woman whose healing story I shared at the beginning of this blog post. Wild blueberries, found in the heavy metal detox smoothie, can positively benefit a restless legs syndrome case regardless of the cause. These powerful berries help combat the shingles virus, aid in reducing inflammation, offer tremendous support for the liver, and can help remove MSG as well. If you think your restless legs syndrome is related to MSG deposits in the brain, L-glutamine can be another important addition to consider.
PharmaGaba can help mitigate symptoms, as well as melatonin. It may be best to start with a small dose of melatonin, but know that some people can benefit from working up to a larger dose. Bacopa can help support neurological issues contributing to people’s restless legs syndrome. Licorice root can be incredibly supportive for helping to ease and calm down the liver. B-12 with methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin and chaga mushroom extract powder are two other very supportive options.
If you feel that shingles is a contributing factor, be sure to read the “Shingles” chapter in Medical Medium and review the supplements and foods mentioned there. If you’re looking for high-quality supplement recommendations, check out the Medical Medium supplements page.
It’s incredibly important to stay hydrated to help flush and cleanse the liver. Drinking lemon water daily is a fantastic addition for anyone working to heal restless legs syndrome. You can also find out more about chronic dehydration on the blog.
Present Moment Walking
There are some great things you can do to begin recovering your peace of mind. One of the easiest ways to help with restless legs is to take walks. If you are able to walk, definitely set aside some time to do so. If you have sciatic issues, you might not want to, but just attempt to do what you can. Even a very gentle walk outside or around your house can be beneficial. If you’re able to, walk frequently, quiet your mind as much as possible and observe the sights, sounds, and smells around you. This present moment walking technique can be incredibly powerful for alleviating restless legs and can be especially valuable for people whose restless legs syndrome stems from heavy metal issues.
There is hope for anyone suffering from restless legs syndrome. It is not something that you have to live with forever. As you begin to incorporate these suggestions, know that it is possible to be free from the exhaustion and discomfort you’re dealing with now. Make sure to incorporate hot compresses in the morning and cold compresses at night to help calm the nerves at the base of the spine. Begin working in these supportive foods and supplements as much as possible. Hold on to hope and know that you are not alone. There is a real cause behind the frustrating symptoms you’re experiencing and by moving forward armed with this knowledge you will be able to move forward with healing.

Spaghetti squash gets its name for a very good reason. The tender, yellow strands are so much like spaghetti, especially when you top them with a rich, savory tomato sauce and a sprinkle of Brazil Nut Basil “Parmesan”. This recipe from Thyroid Healing will be an instant favorite with family and friends, so you might want to make a double batch. Freeze a batch of the sauce so that you always have some on hand when the urge for a big bowl of spaghetti strikes!
Get this healing recipe below and discover what the incredible foods in this recipe can do for you in the below excerpt from Thyroid Healing
Squash (especially zucchini and spaghetti squash): Helps stabilize your thyroid and increase its production of thyroid hormones T4 and T3. Helps restore your liver and support its ability to convert thyroid hormones. Provides easily assimilable glucose for the brain and the rest of the nervous system to help heal inflamed nerves caused by EBV.
Onions and scallions: Another fantastic resource for their sulfur content’s ability to confuse and knock down EBV while it nourishes the gland itself. As with cruciferous vegetables, that pungent quality is exactly what gives them their value. Onions are a big deal for fighting EBV—bottom line, a potent antiviral.
Garlic: Antiviral and antibacterial that defends against EBV by killing off virus cells. Also kills off strep, the EBV cofactor, allowing for fewer UTIs, sinus infections, and opportunities for SIBO. Helps flush toxic viral and bacterial waste out of the lymphatic system.
Tomatoes: Contain their own variety of vitamin C that’s bioavailable to the lymphatic system and liver, supports the immune system to keep it strong against EBV, and prohibits the virus from traveling through the body with ease. This vitamin C is also a support to the thyroid’s own immune system in the neck area. When growing, tomatoes absorb and collect the moonlight’s frequency at night, just as the thyroid collects the sun’s rays during the day (as you’ll read about in Chapter 25, “Thyroid Healing Techniques”). This means that when consumed, tomatoes strengthen the thyroid’s radio-like frequencies, helping to create balance and homeostasis with all of the body’s organs and glands.
Nuts (especially walnuts, Brazil nuts, almonds, and cashews): Hold trace minerals such as zinc, selenium, and manganese that are helpful in supporting the thyroid. Walnuts, for example, hold antiviral and antibacterial phytochemical compounds that inhibit EBV from proliferating in the liver, spleen, and thyroid.
Spaghetti Squash “Bolognese”
1 large spaghetti squash
2 cups diced red onion
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups cherry tomatoes
1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon curry powder
¼ teaspoon sea salt
½ cup sun-dried tomatoes, soaked 5 minutes in hot water
¼ cup Brazil Nut Basil “Parmesan” (see below)
BRAZIL NUT BASIL “PARMESAN”
¼ cup Brazil nuts
¼ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon dried basil
1 garlic clove
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Carefully slice the spaghetti squash in half and discard the seeds. Fill a baking tray with ½ inch of water and place the squash halves cut side down in the tray. Bake the squash for 30 to 40 minutes until one finger pressed gently into the exterior of the squash leaves an indentation. Remove the squash halves from the oven. When they are cool enough to handle, use a fork to scrape down the insides of the squash creating “spaghetti” strands. Divide the squash noodles between two bowls.
To make the “Bolognese,” place the diced onion into a medium saucepan along with 2 tablespoons of water. Sauté the onion over medium-high heat until translucent and tender. Continue adding water by the tablespoon as needed to prevent sticking. Add the garlic, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, chili powder, poultry seasoning, garlic powder, curry powder, sea salt, and sun-dried tomatoes to the saucepan and continue cooking, stirring frequently for 5 to 7 minutes, until the tomatoes soften. Using an immersion blender, blend the sauce ingredients together until combined but still chunky. Alternatively, transfer to a standing blender and pulse blend, making sure to leave the top ajar for steam to escape. Serve the sauce over the top of the spaghetti squash noodles. Top with the Brazil Nut Basil “Parmesan” and enjoy!
To make the Parmesan, place the brazil nuts, sea salt, basil, and garlic into the blender or food processor and pulse briefly until small crumbles form

Celery is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory foods, because it starves unproductive bacteria, yeast, mold, fungus, and viruses that are present in the body and flushes their toxins and debris out of the intestinal tract and liver. Pathogens like these are so often the underlying cause of inflammation—in their absence, your body is much better able to handle whatever life throws your way. At the same time, celery helps good bacteria thrive.
Consuming celery is the most powerful way to alkalize the gut. That’s in part because celery (which is technically an herb, not a vegetable) is high in bioactive sodium. It also contains cofactor micro trace mineral salts as yet undiscovered in research. These are varieties of sodium and other trace minerals (more than 60 of them) that are present in celery and work symbiotically and systematically with each other and with celery’s regular sodium to raise your body’s pH and rid toxic acids from every crevice of your body, including your gut. This process is ideal to cleanse and repair intestinal linings.
At the same time, celery offers enzymes and coenzymes, and it raises hydrochloric acid in the stomach so that food digests with ease and doesn’t putrefy. This helps prevent a multitude of gastrointestinal disorders. Adding celery juice to your diet is the best way to resolve ammonia permeability, an unrecognized condition in which ammonia gas seeps through the intestinal lining and causes health issues such as dental rot and brain fog. (You can read more on ammonia permeability and the misunderstood leaky gut syndrome in my first book.)
While celery may seem to some like a bland, boring food, it is anything but. In addition to the above, celery improves kidney function, helps restore the adrenals, and can even bring ease to one’s mind and thought patterns, with its mineral salts feeding electrical impulse activity and supporting neuron function, which is key if you suffer with ADHD, brain fog, or memory loss. When it comes to celery, think electrolytes. It hydrates on a deep cellular level, lessening your chances of suffering from migraines. Celery is ideal to address each of the Unforgiving Four factors, plus it offers stress assistance and also repairs your DNA. I could go on and on about the benefits of celery juice for all manner of ills. It is one of the greatest healing tonics of all time.
If you have any of the following conditions, try bringing celery into your life:
Acne, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, eczema, psoriasis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), leaky gut, infertility, Lyme disease, migraines, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), thyroid diseases and disorders, low reproductive system battery, diabetes, hypoglycemia, adrenal fatigue, anxiety, sepsis, urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, kidney dis- ease, pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis, fatty liver, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), fibromyalgia, lupus, Sjögren’s syndrome, Addison’s disease, rosacea, lipoma, bladder cancer, interstitial cystitis, Crohn’s disease, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), thrush, hyperglycemia, hyper- tension, depression, apnea, thyroid cancer, bacterial vaginosis, edema, injuries, parasites, yeast infections, insomnia, mold exposure, bacterial infections, viral infections, ammonia permeability
If you have any of the following symptoms, try bringing celery into your life:
Intestinal spasms; cysts; low hydrochloric acid; sluggish liver; low cortisol; high cortisol; brain fog; food allergies; acidosis; hypothyroid; hyperthyroid; blurry eyes; joint pain; headaches; bloating; gas; abdominal pressure; abdominal distension; chronic dehydration; eye dryness; frozen shoulder; acid reflux; inflamed gallbladder, stomach, small intestine, and/or colon; rashes; nausea; white film on tongue; Candida overgrowth; anxiousness; memory loss; high blood pressure; food sensitivities; swelling; inflammation; muscle spasms; leg cramps; fatigue; mineral deficiencies; brain inflammation; sleep disturbances
We tend to hold a lot of fear in our guts. Nervousness causes those sensations we know as tummy flips or butterflies in the stomach, and anxiety can run deep through the nervous system, putting our guts in knots. Celery restores the entire digestive system. Use it for its calm- ing effects when you are feeling frightened, panicky, shocked, fretful, nervous, threatened, unsure, afraid, or defensive.
All too often, we make life more complicated than it needs to be—or else we oversimplify what’s truly a complex issue. This push-and-pull happens in all areas of life, especially health. In one approach, people overthink health problems and throw all kinds of potential solutions at them. In the other approach, people take a health challenge that’s actually a delicate interplay of many factors and try to make it seem like it’s just a simple case of the body going haywire out of the blue.
For true healing to occur, we have to embrace a balance of the simple and the complex—and celery teaches us this. Drinking celery juice is the simplest of measures, so simple that people often write it off as too easy to make a difference in how they feel. They figure that adding several other ingredients to their green juice will add that many more nutrients. While green-juice blends can be very healing, there is nothing that equals the simple power of pure celery juice. It is as healing, transformational, and life-changing as it gets—and that’s due to its complex nutritional makeup, which needs to be left undisturbed to work its magic. It’s an important reminder for other areas of life. Where else do we need to have an intricate understanding of a situation to conclude that the simplest approach is the best?
* To press the reset button on your body, juice celery by itself. For the full effect, drink a full 16 ounces of fresh celery juice daily—and make sure it’s on an empty stomach to raise hydrochloric acid levels most efficiently. For dramatic results, drink two 16-ounce glasses of fresh celery juice a day.
* Use organic celery whenever possible. If using conventional celery, be sure to wash it especially well before juicing.
* If you find the taste of straight celery too strong, you can juice one cucumber and/or one apple with the celery. This is a great option as you get adjusted to the flavor, however there are more benefits when celery juice is consumed on its own.
* If drinking the full 16 ounces of celery juice feels like too much in the beginning, start with a few sips and work your way over time.
* If celery juice feels too strong for your body, you can alternatively use fresh cucumber juice instead which is more gentle but still beneficial.
Plain, fresh celery juice is one of the most powerful healing juices available to us. This clean, green drink is the very best way to start your day. Make this juice a part of your daily routine, and soon you wont want to go a day without it!
1-2 heads of celery, stalks separated
Rinse the celery and run it through a juicer. Drink immediately. Alternatively, you can chop the celery and blend it in a high-speed blender until smooth. Strain and drink immediately.
